Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear to the auditions?  

Wear comfy clothing suitable to dance in.

What footwear should I wear?

We would recommend something suitable to dance in. Some people wear dance footwear whereas others wear trainers. 

Is it compulsory to pre-register?  

No, however it will save time on the day.

What if I pre-register then change my mind and decide not to audition?

If you change your mind then please could you let us know so that we are not waiting for you by emailing Theatre@starburstfoundation.com

Where do I go to register on the day?

We will have a registration table in the foyer of The Harlington.

Is there a break during the day?

There are multiple mini breaks throughout the day- please ensure you bring refreshments including plenty of water. 

What if I can't make the Sunday audition day?

Please email Theatre@starburstfoundation.com to discuss with the producer. It is at the discretion of the production team as to whether you are offered an alternative date. 

What will I have to prepare in advance? 

There is no need to prepare anything - everything is taught on the day.

I have never done anything like this before. Is it okay to be nervous?

It is natural to be nervous. It doesn't matter at all if this is your first audition. The most important thing is to try your best and have fun. 

When will we find out if we were successful?

The production team will tell you on the day how the results will be communicated. The results are usually published on the website 2 - 3 days following the audition.

What day are rehearsals?

Rehearsals are Sundays 2pm until 6pm for mainly singing and dancing and Thursdays 8pm-10pm will be acting rehearsals. All cast members are required to attend all Thursday evening rehearsals for November and December. Precise timings are subject to change. 

Do I have to attend every Sunday?

If you're selected for a part in the show you will be expected to attend all required rehearsals

Are there any key dates I would need to be free for? 

You must be available from Sunday 8th December until Saturday 28th December for technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals and for the duration of the run. Additionally, you are required to undertake a couple of publicity events on Saturdays or evenings, dates confirmed at rehearsals.

What parts can I audition for? 

Specific roles will be announced in due course. As a general guide, we will be auditioning for leads, principal dancers and seniors, babes and inters. Check back closer to the audition date for a more specific breakdown.

What does the audition entail? 

Most people will be taught a song and dance routine in the first hour. This will be auditioned in small groups. Ensemble only are finished at this stage. The directing team will call back people to learn the principle dance and lead vocal arrangement which will allow them to audition for Principle dancer or lead singing role. The song will be auditioned as a solo and the principal dancers in small groups. The directors will cut from the lead song audition and call back people to read for the lead singing roles.

Can i just audition without singing or dancing?

You can just read for a non-singing and non-dancing role but will not be considered for ensemble if not successful. These roles are limited.

Non singing lead roles will be read for throughout the audition.
