A step-by-step guide to applying for funding support for additional needs children
We accept applications for funding during our grant windows in February and August. Our application process is designed to be straightforward while ensuring we can best support each child's individual needs.
Applications are submitted through our online form system, which is only open to submissions during the application windows. (If you see "This form is currently not accepting responses", please check back when the next application window opens).
Use our Eligibility Quick Checker below to check if you meet the initial requirements to apply for Starburst's assistance.
Applications can be made by parents or carers on behalf of individual children, or by non-profit making groups and organisations (e.g. not-for-profit schools, colleges or registered charities working with children up to and including, the physical age of 18 years). The child must live (or the organisation must be based) within our catchment area which is usually considered to be a 15 mile radius of Yateley.
We will consider requests for funding of specific items which will be of clear and direct benefit to the child/children. These are usually bespoke or specialist items such as Specialist Trikes, Wheelchairs, additional needs Pushchairs, Car Seats, Mobile Hoists, Sensory Equipment. Take a look at our Case Studies page to see things we have funded in the past. Please note: For requests for items such as iPads, we will ask for specific supporting evidence from a professional such as the child's teacher, or healthcare worker, which outlines how it will be used and how that will specifically benefit the child.
Get a quotation or website link for the equipment with exact make, model, and specifications. Gather supporting documentation such as recommendations from the child's medical specialists.
Applications are accepted in February and August, closing on the last day of the window. Complete the online form and include links to required items. We acknowledge receipt within 5 days.
Applications are reviewed in March or September. If we can assist, we'll arrange a visit (in-person or video) in March or September to meet you and the child.
Following the review, we'll inform you of the outcome by email.
If successful, we order and pay for the item directly with the supplier, who will arrange delivery with you.
